Cove Line Infill Replacement

Post by BlowingOldBoots »

The cove line on Sruth has a blue infill which has seen better days. Is there any recommendation for a contractor who could remove and replace on the water?

Alternatively, has anyone done this in the past, any tips? The cove line is concave and finishes with an arrow head at the bow. If I do it, it could look excrement, hence why I am looking for a contractor. Happy to give it a go if advise suggests it is easy.

Painting the cove line may be superior than sticky tape, what do you think? Any other ideas?

take a look at the instagram account of S/Y Lofna / swan_36_lofna which was restored in Northern Ireland over the last couple of years. They re-did their cove line and that might give you some ideas.

Thats nice and neat. I like the way they placed the paint inside the cove line and not up the sides.

one tip is to use vinyl lining tape (2mm wide or 3mm wide) for masking off, especially where there are tight curves, then to use normal masking tape for larger radius

Maybe it is a winter job in the big sheds at Fairly.

I mask it off and use humbrol enamel paint (The stuff I used to paint on my Spitfires and lancasters!)
