YotBlog now 'Invitation Only'

Post by Nick »

.
I have just been trawling through the :bs: on the server again and have deleted everyone registered before July last year who set up a blog but never got round to making an entry.

There are still dozens of blogs with one or two entries that have obviously been abandoned, and in a month or so I will delete these as well. That is the problem with the internet - give people something for nothing and they tend not to value it - 'must have some of that 'cos it's free'

(NB - this will not affect blogs that are 'complete' - i.e. that are content-rich but have come to their natural end)

There are many really excellent blogs on the server, but to the casual browser they are lost in the dross - which is not fair on those who are making good use of the facility.

So from now on new registrations on YotBlog will have to be applied for and vetted by me or an Admiral - we need to know that you are going to use it.

Feedback via the attached poll would be appreciated . . .

Yer fair gaun yer dinger wi' a' these polls. A huvnae voted yet cos a'm no sure hoo the invitation thingy wid work. You're right about the need to prune the non-starters and the dross but how do you figure what's going to be good at the invitation stage?

PS - My NY resolution is to restart mine this season - honest!

People tell me they want a blog and I sign up on their behalf.

Already done two this year!

Tip-top idea, Nick. I was put off by the random quality but will find more time to waste if there are predominantly decent blogs.

The secret is just to look at the latest entries ( http://www.yotblog.com/newentries.php )

People are even putting Utube videos on their blog now:

and then there is Matt's account on Claysie's blog of the 2006 Chentleman's Cruise if you missed it . . .
