Now in Ardrossan for the winter, after a wee sail (well, motor only east of Bowling) up to Glasgow just for the hell of it. Nice way to arrive in the city. We moored at Kelvin pontoon where we saw a seal, a fox, and a cormorant or shag with a white breast. Changed days. No grain ships, no clatter of hammers or presses, and no sparks dropping like rain from the welders on the staging. Ah well......

Might write it up.

JWD to Caladh Harbour then round Garroch Head and back to JWD Thursday and Friday. Surprising number of boats out and most actually had sails up. Sunshine, wind and not too chilly.

On Fleetwood beach with the Grandchildren on Thursday. Very warm, light winds, clear sunny skies and calm seas. Why is Morecambe bay never like that when you are out there?

We may have passed as we sailed from Largs to James Watt Dock today, where I noticed that we were berthed across the way from a Bluemoment Notable. Very good conditions for tacking into the Clyde although it got a bit slow around Gourock.
Can't remember exact timings - we're not early starters, so middle of the day - we were against the tide (or rather, the tide was against us)

We were goose winging towards Toward when I heard a small freighter calling in to Port Control on 12 as she passed Cumbrae on her way to Rothesay Dock so changed course towards Inellan and stayed inshore of the shipping lane.

We did get home on Tuesday. Motored all the way, into a stiff headwind. Wind was against tide, and there were some fairly lumpy waves now and again.

With hindsight, the walk to / from Ettrick Bay for breakfast maybe wasn't a good call - the wind had picked up a bit by the time we got back to the boat.

We left Glasgow early on Thursday and, once clear of the river's narrow channel had a terrific sail down the coast to Clyde Marina with only one short final tack to take us to Ardrossan's entrance. The yard guys at Ardrossan are true professionals and we had a very warm welcome from Peter Ribbeck. Nice to be back there. Incidentally, Peter is a very accomplished landscape/seascape photographer. Not sure how he processes his images, but they are, to say the least, very striking, all the more remarkable as he is colour blind. Take a look at Peter's work at https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterribb ... 719352603/.
