With all due respect Director, given a zephyr of a breeze we don't usually have a problem keeping up with your auld tub.

In view of the new plan we will intercept the fleet on Friday, which gives us an extra day to get Fairwinds ready for the water. Sadly this means we will not be rendezvousing at Ardfern with sleeping bags for the sub-tropical contingent, so perhaps someone else can provide the snugglies for Matt and partner?

If no-one else is able to help then Of course I could. I just thought that someone else - perhaps the skipper of the vessel providing the accommodation - might be able to help and save us a trip, but if we are the only people who posess or are willing to lend sleeping bags then so be it.

You can do Mallaig to Ardfern in one day. ( well, we did on our last boatie what was a wee bittie bigger with a 34 Ft LWL))

Checking back in the log I see that in 2005 we did 89nm from Puildobhraoin to Wizard Pool, South Uist in 14h 45m, but that was with a very favourable wind and with a real incentive to get across the Minch pdq (a severe gale approaching later). I wouldn't normally be planning a day passage of that length! I'm not sure what Avilion's waterline length is: LOA is 30ft so LWL maybe 27 or 28ft?

I might be able to help here, since at the moment I will be crew less on the Thursday so I could come up via Oban and call at Balvicar around 1200ish to pick up sleeping bags. My plan had been to walk over the hill from Craobh to the planning meeting / p!ss up and a largish rucksack could easily accommodate a couple of sleeping bags if not too big / heavy. Alternatively a preliminary visit to Ardfern by car is not adding too many miles in the great scheme of things. Claymore: when do you plan to arrive at Ardfern?
