What is the plan and, in the light of said plan, is Ardfern a sensible starting point? Does the Director plan to turn left or right at the bottom of Loch Craignish?

If right then we may well join the party on the Friday. If left then it is a long haul for Silkie and Shard to catch up.

Quite right, it would make sense for us to take the flood tide on Friday morning and turn right once through Big Doris, if you'll pardon the expression.
It will of course be blowing from the North.
Perhaps a rendezvous on the Bono Rk if it looks fair for a circumcision of Mull or adjacent to Loch Spelve entrance if we favour Mallaig?

Isn't that a bit, well, far away? It could be done in 4 days, but it doesn't give any margin (and I've a plane to catch on the Tue morning...)

Reflecting a bit, the above is maybe a bit pessimistic. It would be nice to visit the new facilities in Mallaig, and the tides on Sunday and Monday are good for heading south, so if the forecast is half reasonable, why not?
