If it is used correctly it never goes wrong.
How much pressure do you need to put on the 'lazy' end to stop the drum slipping inside the furling line?

Ash
To answer your question Ash, I have a Plastimo 608 system which I dismantled and serviced a couple yrs ago, ie new pvc liners.
It had the chain plate setup when I got HB but I wasent happy with it as the two side (holed ) plates looked quite flimsey so I cut two similar plates and doubled them up with the originals and havent had any problems.
The chain plate set up was originally intended to be used in conjunction with a rigging screw inside it, ie between the plates, and adjustment was by pulling side plates off outer ends of the headless clevis pin ( which passed through the two side plates, the lower fork holes in rigging screw and the deck plate/bow roller) sliding the whole drum/foil up the forestay, adjusting forestay using rigging screw then the reverse procedure.
My forestay is more or less fixed to one of two holes on the bow roller.
Bit long winded but hope it helps.
