Re: Travel Chaos: Avis Car Rental rubbing Salt in the wounds
When normally you hire a car you check what the prices are and most people chose the cheapest suitable option. If you think about it, when you dont show loyalty to one hire firm and take advantage of lower prices elsewhere, how can you complain when the hire firm doesnt show loyalty to you and tries...

That's a different issue Border Maid - just how far does a society allow freedom of expression? In the UK, we already do limit it in many ways, and the limits we put on it reflect the mores of society , or at least the mores of that part of society with power and influence. And of course there are l...

I think perhaps drug taking was part of the Huggs normal behaviour... as for acceptable - who are we to judge? The rest of his fellow citizens. The same people who judge racism unacceptable, or paedophilia or drunkenness - or indeed a lot of other things. And don't tell me that you dont judge other...

You are speaking about the Huggy we know and love. No - I wrote about the short samples in the first post, and I gave an opinion that is purely personal and reads, in retrospect, quite harshly. Few of us ever get so far as to start writing a book so I do wish Huggy the best with his project. I just...

OK Huggy. I read a lot of novels - mostly detective story trash, some bio, some sci fi. Anything that takes my fancy to be honest. But I wouldnt read a book written like the samples above for several reasons. Firstly I wouldnt read it because the writing is poor - lots of superfluous adjectives, poo...

I believe there are a lot of farmers who have developed a nice secondary business as filling stations. One chap in our marina regularly turns up with ten 5 gallon containers!

I thought references to TOP and particularly "The Lounge" were discouraged on this fine forum - and it is a much better place for it! Indeed. If you're interested in a discussion in another place why not take part in it over there? Have done exactly that, but given that this is very much ...

I didn't know anything about YBW being " beyond the pale". Whats all that about? Or maybe best not answered in case it starts some sort of war of words. But you didnt answer a genuine question. And what on earth are white settlers when most of Wales and most of Scotland are a great deal wh...

Forgive the link to another place but you will see in http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236660 that the question of the very different political complexion of Scotland has been raised. As a Brit (an Englishman living in Wales ) it has always puzzled me. Hopefully friendly rivalries apart, S...

Interesting collection of 141 photos on your photobucket account Puddock but did you really want to give open access to them for everybody?
