When I'm on Windymere I expect the one and only fuel pump to extract the urine, so it's no suprise that he sells red diesel for £110 a litre, plus duty at the normal 60/40 split. I buy white diesel from Morrisons for whatever, it's not much hassle for the 50 or so litres I use a year.
After we filled up Capricious at the W/E we went to pay and it was about £1 a litre with the duty on, I suppose that's about right.
It was interesting to see that a Mobo had put 1000L in and declared the 60/40 split, it must be a hell of a job keeping the batteries charged and the saloon warm!
Anyroad, I was down the canal today (just opposite Lidl) and found out about where they get their red diesel from so I'm quite pleased, off to Brighouse tomorrow on my way up to Chiron.

I believe there are a lot of farmers who have developed a nice secondary business as filling stations. One chap in our marina regularly turns up with ten 5 gallon containers!

I had to drive to this place in Brighouse (Apparently it was a driving lesson) A very nice lady sold us some stuff in pre-measured amounts for our Jerry cans and they did the 60:40 calculation whilst I stuck my fingers in my ears and went la-la-la-la.....
They also sell parrafin on draught.

Please stop this thread! I would hate any source of red to dry up and make life difficult, especially in some out of the way places. The powers that be may be forced to notice if too many loud-mouths shout about the subject.

£110 a litre seems a bit steep![]()

I am not sure what the split should be if you actually gain no benefit from the fuel, but choose to throw it in the bilges.![]()
