More Canals

Post by marisca »

Back in May, on my way to SIPR, I demurred at the new Crinan Canal assisted passage price and instead bought a 16 day explorer ticket. This gives 16 days in any canal lasting 12 months. So this year I have transited the Crinan 7 times (5 single-handed), spent 4 nights in the Caledonian (sunny and warm and multi brownie points from Madame Marisca who is definitely not a fan of the wild rolling sea but does like warmth and scenery) and still have 4 days left for next year until 3rd week of May.

7 Crinans? Well there was to SIPR, then there and back for a wee cruise in May/June, to and from Round Mull Race in July, then to WHYW and back 2 days ago.
I can only concur with Geoff's comments on the staff and facilities.

.... and the cost? I have, of course, expunged such a sordid detail from my memory but it was ~£450.
