This info has been posted to our club:
" I was in Largs Chandlers this morning where a guy was describing a coordinated ‘raid’ on Marinas (Inverkip down) – seemingly the gang stole 27 outboard motors in one night last week. This is simply therefore a precaution. If Troon Marina wasn’t targeted in that raid – the chances are that they will be. I think it would be wise to advise the membership that outboards should be chained to their boats or taken home for the foreseeable future."
I thought everyone should know.

Re: Theft Warning
Sahona,
Many thanks for the warning. I now, as a matter of course, padlock the outboard to the boat. Its only a deterrent of course, the annoying people will still get an outboard if they are prepared and determined. I would advise everyone to take a note of any serial numbers, as the Police and Insurance companies will probably need this in the case of a claim.
