Hi gang.
The Plastimo toilet on my new to me boat, is not sucking in water nor flushing. I checked the seacocks were open, and move the dry/wet lever. If the toilet is not used for a while, is it necessary to prime by filling the bowl with some water first? I am a bit reluctant to strip it down in case it's clogged with poo .
I had similar symptoms last year, it turned out to be a leaky seal on the pump stem. When pumping the waste out it was sucking air in through the top instead of sea water. If your bowl empties when you pump, and you can flush the bog by pouring a bucket of water down it, it'll be the same thing.
I ended up with a new Jabsco 'coz I couldn't source a service kit for the bog I had, you may have more luck.
The usual cause of this is the flap valve below the pump having 'set' in the open position through the in/out lever being left in the wrong position for a long time e.g. over the winter.
You can service this bit without getting anywhere near the dirty side of the loo.
Thanks guy's
I found some new parts still in their wrappers in a box, along with new parts for a Yamaha outboard. These parts look like they belong to the pump assembly according to the Jabasco website. Lets hope it's a clean easy fix
Just a thought... It's probably been sitting idle for some time so it might be worth putting some hot, but not boiling hot , water into the bowl to see if it will warm and soften the seals up? Then it might pump some water through( worth adding a squirt of washing up liquid if it frees off)
Then at least you can get some clean water through before you strip it down.
I add a splash of veg oil to the bowl every few days to keep the seals lubricated and this smooths the pump action.
