Have had cause to use 'Claymore’s Definitive Tidal Gate Chart' on several occasions despite having several copies of Ardfern's handy aide memoire and notes in log book etc. Should of course know it all by heart but sometimes if passage planning in the pub then it is to Claymore we turn. Shame if it could not be preserved for posterity somewhere .....

Nick
Now I'm not a workslave no more - and supposing a new years revolution was to make a bit of a blogging effort - what are my options?
I find it rather strange that I, the technically most inept, should be thinking of doing this. An option which Dear Heart proposed was that I could help by getting my "big useless hairy airse into the garden"
She surely cannot have been serious - I'm even more clueless in that environment

Set up a blog on Wordpress.com

Easy Peasy.

I should be able to help you move your existing blog. Other yotbloggers should do this if they want an easy way to preserve their blogs. Will give more detailed advice when I am home next week.

A clear demonstration of my ineptitude now follows - my blog seems to be being hosted by wordpress. This must mean I have set up an account?
Well- if I did, I don't remember doing so - perhaps Blogs are not for the likes of I.....

Sorry folks, the account was set to expire today and all files have been deleted. I intended to make one last backup before this happened, but it didn't happen so all is lost.

If someone would care to send me a copy of Claymore's Definitive Tidal Gates I will give it a new home.

I seem to remember that the last time that there was a threat of the blogs disappearing, Nick gave instructions to save our blogs to hard drive. If you got it wrong, then you saved everyone's blog. I think that Dave might have done this. Might still be on his hard drive.

I'll look on my hard drive. I might have Claymore's Gates.

It seems that when I set up YotBlog on the server years ago an expiration date was set. I thought it was midnight tonight, seems it was midnight yesterday. The cookie has crumbled.

I have a database backup from June 2013 and copies of all the photos, so it would be possible to restore the site if I ever had time. Failing that I can drag the raw text out of the database tables.

It is not and was not ever my responsibility to act as an unpaid custodian of anyones' memories, and I did warn everyone a long time ago that the site was going to be taken down. I don't believe anyone has made any posts for some considerable time. If the site had been used I might have given it more attention.

Found this on BM

http://www.bluemoment.com/pix/claymoresgates.gif

Can someone save it to hard drive / photobucket?

Ash

Edit - Managed to save the Gif to my hard drive very easily.
Windows IE - top right - click on 'Page' - click on 'save as'

So, I've been reading up on Google Cache

Found this, not sure if I have the time / ability to save it to hard disc.

So, does this work?

http://www.yotblog.com/index-of-blogs/

Ash

Edit - seems to work fine - this is / was the second incarnation of YotBlog, so is it the first incarnation which has time expired?

I had a blog on the first incarnation, but not the second.

2nd edit - Claymore could make this his strap line - http://www.yotblog.com/claymore/
