Great service from West Coast Motors

Coming home from the mooring this morning, the service bus from Fort William to Oban was held up by various council roadworks related activities and a very slow nervous driver in a wee car. So, running a few minutes late, and concerned that we'd miss our connection with the Glasgow bus at Connel, the driver rang ahead to the West Coast Motors fleet control who held the connecting bus for us. Great service.

We usually drive to/from the mooring but, if you have the time, travelling by coach is by far the more relaxing way to travel. Also, you see so much more from the elevated seating position.

Have bus pass, will travel.......

I applied for mine last week, should arrive next week.

I've been looking into the bus option too. Apart from the start and end of the season when the car is full of stuff, it usually transports only me, a wee bag, and a lot of air. Petrol being the price it is, it is my greatest expense after berthing in keeping the boat. The train from Glasgow to Oban bizarrely takes longer than the bus! Getting to Craobh is a bit awkward, however, with quite long waits at either Oban or Lochgilphead for a connection, then a walk for the last mile unless catching the school service. I do, however, intend to give it a try.

Bus/Bus Pass are great. Somehow the cost of a taxi from the supermarket nearest the bus stop to the boat doesn't seem such an extravagance.

The droopy dog ears at the front are affectionately called P45 mirrors, since at £1400 a piece you can be sure what's coming if you return to the depot without one...

3 knocked off so far, allegedly none of them the fault of the driver(s).

A week ago last Saturday returning from our mooring, we caught the Fort William - Oban bus at Linnhe (the bus was a few minutes late) hoping to catch the Glasgow connection at Connel. (there are something like 6 minutes in which to do so). The bus driver loaded us and our herd of bags on board and then pulled out his phone.........have I read this before?

A great service indeed.

Not particularly in praise of the 'men from Benmore depot', but the certificate of antiquity played a blinder a couple of seasons ago - it would otherwise have been £137 for skip+crew from Portree to Prestwick and back, which payed for the boat to sit out the rubbish weather while we went home. And, as Shard says, great view all the way- each way.

Not particularly in praise of the 'men from Benmore depot', but the certificate of antiquity played a blinder a couple of seasons ago - it would otherwise have been £137 for skip+crew from Portree to Prestwick and back, which payed for the boat to sit out the rubbish weather while we went home. And, as Shard says, great view all the way- each way.

It's a shame their boat services are so jolly expensive, though. I quite fancied doing Troon - Campbeltown until I saw the price.
