In what way are you a 'customer' of mine?Arghiro wrote:Did you enjoy your Customer care course then, Nick?
I think you will find that any dictionary definition of 'customer' involves the concept of payment.jim.r wrote:You offer a service , we accept it , so you are the service provider and we are the customers. The fact we don't pay makes us non paying customers not non customers

That is from the 'business dictionary'. I prefer to use real dictionaries. This isn't a business.jim.r wrote: Hate to disagree..

Fascinating though your erudite remarks are I am afraid that I regard my customers as the people who pay for my services and allow me to put food on the table.claymore wrote:Interesting perception Nick.
We are all customers of each other really - interdependent. In business terms it is not uncommon to differentiate between Internal and External customers. As users of the excellent service you provide, we are your customers - all be it, non-paying. Naturally if you chose to charge or of for some other reason we all walked away, then the service would suffer to the point of being without purpose. So - I would respectfully suggest that Jimi is correct in his appraisal of the situation and that the provider/customer relationship is not always entirely dependent upon financial transaction. I would go so far as to suggest that perceiving the relationship as one which involves the concept of payment it to take a rather blinkered approach, my ageing philanthopist.
Not that I would deign to suggest that you are ever blinkered......

However, you are correct, - you are able to make a choice and feck off to YBW or Sailing Anarchy if you don't like the way this forum is run.
No, no-one has ever slagged me off for a lack of 'customer care'jim.r wrote:
And to be absolutely pedantic, has anyone mentioned , let alone criticised the way this forum is run?
