Interesting perception Nick.
We are all customers of each other really - interdependent. In business terms it is not uncommon to differentiate between Internal and External customers. As users of the excellent service you provide, we are your customers - all be it, non-paying. Naturally if you chose to charge or of for some other reason we all walked away, then the service would suffer to the point of being without purpose. So - I would respectfully suggest that Jimi is correct in his appraisal of the situation and that the provider/customer relationship is not always entirely dependent upon financial transaction. I would go so far as to suggest that perceiving the relationship as one which involves the concept of payment it to take a rather blinkered approach, my ageing philanthopist.

Not that I would deign to suggest that you are ever blinkered......
