It is a bit quieter tho. Maybe it needs a few more controversial posts to liven it up a bit?

As long as they are sailing-related and everyone plays the ball, not the man . . .Arghiro wrote:It is a bit quieter tho. Maybe it needs a few more controversial posts to liven it up a bit?

The people here are 'real' virtual people as opposed to the somewhat opinionated (minority) virtual choobs with high self regard that frequent the other place..PaulJS wrote:Just a quick post to say Hi to everyone.

Having just had a weekend full of Parahandy, I can assure everyone there is nothing real about him in any way.
No real person is capable of such volume in terms of snoring and fearting.....

Re: New to the forum
There is a paradox here in that quite a few of the same people frequent both TOP and here, indeed our webmeister himself seems incapable of resisting the urge to enter into all sort of frays on TOP that do not reflect the wisdom and caring attitude seen on here. Yet he and others seem to manage this disambiguity, verging on schizophrenia, without seemingly being aware of the confusion it causes in the readers. Wully seems to think the personae portrayed here are the "real" ones - I'm not too sure. Certainly, neither of the personalities I exhibit here nor on TOP reflect what a wonderful human being and brilliant sailor I really am!wully wrote: The people here are 'real' virtual people as opposed to the somewhat opinionated (minority) virtual choobs with high self regard that frequent the other place..

Maybe it's the company he keeps here - and over there?marisca wrote:

I have the same problem. My projected online character simply can't convey what a fantastic human being I am.marisca wrote:Certainly, neither of the personalities I exhibit here nor on TOP reflect what a wonderful human being and brilliant sailor I really am!

Re: New to the forum
I found myself drawn into a long and pointless argument with a poster who, according to a private message from someone who claimed to have met him, is actually well on the downward slope of dementia. That may or may not be true (it would certainly explain some of his debating style), but nevertheless it did make me wonder why I was wasting time arguing with someone I'd just have smiled at and backed away from in a pub. And, of course, arguing with the doo-lally is neither Big nor Clever.wully wrote: I know that a few of the eejits over there can infuriate beyond restraint since I got banned for being rude to one such condescending K**b with a massive post count.
So I gave up, and although I miss seeing the end of the dodgy anchor story, life hasn't got noticeably poorer as a result.

Hello. Yes, this seems a much more quiet and civilised place and mercifully free of those who believe that Yarmouth (IoW) defines "quiet and unspoiled harbour" ...PaulJS wrote:Just a quick post to say Hi to everyone.
