Just back-ish from our Ailsa Craig exped..... a hard beat for eight hours to get there.... but well worth it.... .... & only five hours return leg...

We've anchored off the jetty, but only in settled conditions; the holding didn't seem too good. Maybe next time...

I think the bottom just off the jetty is pretty much shingle-ish like the beach, but we were on a Maxi 84 fin keel on a falling tide & we only just managed off the jetty at 0.8m reading on the echo sounder.
There are many publications and pictures of AC with some showing larger vessels on the opposite side, so it might be worth considering this, but well-fendered as it was tending to push you on.

And HS is definitely now on my Christmas list.
