Keep an eye open for Little Ship

Post by Arghiro »

Tom is currently in the Crinan basin in his beautifully restored wooden Grand Banks "Little Ship". Tom is an absolute Gent & will be pleased to say "Hello" to any that recognise him from the "MoBo" forum on YBW.

So please keep an eye out & give him a cheery wave, he will wonder who the bloody hell you are - so it's worth it just for that! :D

That'd be great - some of us had a pint with Tom a couple of years ago in Glasgow's Horseshoe Bar. A good guy.

We were there on the 9th before setting off to Port Appin but didn't notice a wooden Grand
Banks. We did however see a magnificent oldish wooden launch called Cirrus in the basin from Kip? Its brightwork was fantastic.

Latest news is that Tom & Little Ship have about transited the Calley & will be in the Firth Of Forth shortly. Apparently his crew suffered greatly in the transit due to working locks & ropes in the persisting down rain. He claims to have done his best to sustain them with coffee & biscuits while stuck at the helm & controls in the nice warm, dry cabin. :D

Bin there dun that??? :D

I suspect he's doing the loop, - may return via Falkirk Wheel? But there's a tunnel that way isn't there & he has big topsides. Dunno, just have to watch & wait.

There are now 2 tunnels on the Union canal (and the Falkirk Wheel) but he wouldn't transit any of these if coming through the Forth & Clyde.

I hope the term "little" applies to his air draft. IIRC 3m is the max but if it is anything like the claimed water depth of 1.83m I would err on the cautious side.

He might need to put the tomato plants below & cut off the flybridge.
