Garmin 128 forgot everything but has recovered

Our Garmin GPS128 had lost all data at the start of the season, but after a couple of days it appears to be back to normal (apart from all wps gone). I am a little surprised - does this mean the internal battery has recovered? Last time this happened we had to replace it.

Not a definitive answer, but it sounds as if the internal battery is now recharged.

I thought it may have heard that a new Ensign was being considered so it decided to behave for fear of being replaced.

Yes, that was a strange thread, what with Nick claiming that he'd never seen a Scottish red ensign locally, despite himself, as I recall, sailing in company with one recently. And of course, Aja's pic of Sahona..... I really think he needs to get out more often.

I think that the internal battery will have been recharged. I'm sure that I've read somewhere that it is recharged by the replaceable batteries but not by the external 12V supply.

My Garmin 12 certainly seems OK after I allowed everything to go flat - see This Thread.

I think a 128's internal battery is not rechargeable - a CR2032 type I think. It is possible for it to "recover" after a bit of a rest though.

I've just been measuring current consumption of my new 152H. I was surprised to find it takes about 0.3mA when it's switched off (about 35mA on incidentally). If the 128 is the same, it may be using the boat's power to keep the memory going whenever the power is connected... Just a theory at the moment.
