Respect to the guy that 'overpowered' the gunman.
I very much doubt the gunman woke up yesterday morning expecting to be facing a life sentence by the evening, so that's one more life ruined by this.
Tragic.

It isn't just the individuals is it, what about all the families?
Then there were the 30 kids on the quayside having just had a tour of the sub. OK not directly involved, but I'll bet there are a few of them having nightmares & needing support. A crazy event & utterly devasting for those involved. Very sad.

Yeah, intensely frustrating that (probably) if the bloke who did it had got a bit more sleep Thursday night, or if something had been said a slightly differnet way or if he'd counted to ten before acting, or even if someone had a firmer grip on his SA80 probably everyone involved would have lived a long happy life.Arghiro wrote:It isn't just the individuals is it, what about all the families?

One report suggested that the guy had asked permission to use the head & been refused until the VIP had gone. If true (& I know it is only a newspaper report) then there must have been some bad underlying issues for him to flip like that.
Interesting that the Police have asked to detain him longer fo rinterview & that they want to see a score or more witnesses. i wonder if they think there may be more to this than meets the eye?
Dreadful situation for everyone involved.

I have heard on the greater UK Civilian (Plymouth) grapevine certain information which supports your assessment of the situation.
Yes this is a terrible event, and my heartfelt sympathies go to the family of the sailor who was killed.
OG.
