Oban lifeboat was called out twice in an hour last Saturday to help vessels in trouble.
The lifeboat launched on Saturday at 1pm to assist the yacht Lizzie May, which had run aground on Liath Sgeir off the SW corner of Limore. The yacht was refloated with assistance from a fish farm workboat just as the lifeboat arrived.
The lifeboat crew were then diverted to assist another vessel in difficulty in the same area. A 30ft motor cruiser, the Charlie Leigh, had anchored off the SE corner of Lismore when her engine failed and she was in danger of benig driven ashore in the rising South-easterly wind. The lifeboat towed the Charlie Leigh into Oban Marina on Kerrera.
