Hello again,

Apologies for missing last week’s forecast, should all be back on track now. Many of you have already ordered the Weather Why’s DVD, and I am pleased to say the feedback from you has been overwhelming; I am so pleased you like it! If you haven’t got Weather Why’s yet, or to see samples of the DVD and buy online go to http://www.weatherweb.net/weatherwhys.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In fact, given this weekend forecast, the best thing to do is to grab a cup of tea, a mince pie and watch DVD’s!

The next Sailing Weather School will be held in January. I have a few places remaining, but they are filling quickly. A place at Weather School makes an ideal Christmas present, so go on, ask for one in your stocking!. Part 1 will be on Saturday 30th January and I have kept the prices the same at £115 for the full day (including lunch). Over 300 people have now been through Weather School, and you can find out more and book your place online at http://www.weatherschool.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Onto the weekend forecast, and if you know anyone who’d like to receive this email each week just tell them to send a request to join to

Have a good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 0900 Thursday 19th November 2009

SATURDAY:
An area of low pressure to the west of Ireland through Saturday will be remaining almost stationary, with a strong flow from the south or southeast, becoming south to southwesterly as the front passes through.
Cloud and rain across most of the country on Saturday morning. The rain will be heavy in the west, with patchier, lighter rain and drizzle in central and eastern areas. Heavier rain, associated with the cold front, will be edging eastwards through the afternoon, reaching eastern England in the late afternoon, bringing some heavier bursts of rain here.
As the more persistent rain tracks east, Ireland, Wales, western England and southwest Scotland should eventually become drier and brighter, but with some heavy showers on the coasts. A windy day for all areas.
Those winds SE 23-30kt (F6-F7) ahead of the warm front, then S 30-40kt (F7-F 8 ) in the west behind the warm front, 17-22kt (F5) in the southeast, perhaps locally 12-15kt (F4) inland. Behind the cold front the winds then become S-SW 20-30kt (F6-F7).

SUNDAY:
The area of low pressure tracks across Northern Ireland by midday, and then into northern England through Sunday evening. As it does so the winds to the south are going to be increasing, severe gales in many places and gusts of 80mph around western and southern coasts, 50mph inland.
An area of heavy rain may well be tracking eastwards through Sunday, mainly affecting England and Wales. The rain should clear through eastern England by the late afternoon and into the evening. Heavy showers follow to the west, these containing some thunderstorms too.
For northern England and Scotland the weather stays very windy and showers, these showers heavy at times and may merge into a period of more persistent rain. Overall, a disturbed, wet and windy day everywhere.
The winds in the south will be S then SW 25-35kt (F6-F 8 ) but 40-45kt (F9) on western and southern coasts. Becoming cyclonic over Scotland as the low clears east, mainly 17-25kt (F5 - F6 ) but lighter near the centre of the low.
