Weekend Weather Forecast 28/10/09

Post by weatherman »

Hello again,

Sorry for the early issue, loads coming up tomorrow so wanted to make sure you get the forecast.

Wow! Thanks to those of you who have ordered my Weather Whys DVD. A reprint will need to be ordered, but the DVD’s will be dispatch as promised on 1st November. The DVD is contains over 2-hours of videos, narrated by me, which explain the weather from fronts to air masses, clouds to weather charts. You can see sample videos at http://www.weatherweb.net/weatherwhys.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , and for the release I am offering the DVD’s for £19.99 (£5 off the retail price).

Places on the next Sailing Weather School are booking up. Part 1 will be on Saturday 30th January. I have kept the prices the same at £115 for the full day (including lunch). Over 300 pilots have now been through Weather School, and you can find out more and book your place online at http://www.weatherschool.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Saturday looks set to be the choice weather day this weekend, at least for most of us. That is before nature unveils its full winter fury on Sunday.

Onto the weekend forecast, and if you know anyone who’d like to receive this email each week just tell them to send a request to join to

Have a good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1900 Wednesday 28th October 2009

SATURDAY:
An occluded front passes eastwards on Saturday morning, clearing from East Anglia into the early afternoon. Following will be a moist southwesterly flow, ahead of a cold front running into the west of Ireland and Scotland later in the day.
There will be cloud and rain associated with the front over eastern England at first. This is going to be clearing away though, and then for most of the country it should be a day of broken cloud, but mainly dry conditions. There is the threat of a shower affecting the western coasts of Wales and northwest England.
In the afternoon the threat of more persistent, heavier showers approaching western and northern Ireland as well as western Scotland as the cold front approaches.
Winds will be SW’ly 9-12kt (F3-F4) in the south, SW 14-18kt (F4-F5) in the northwest of Scotland later.

SUNDAY:
A winter storm develops overnight into Sunday and tracks through Ireland and eventually into North England. Monitor the forecast charts carefully over the next few days as the low may change subtly, although I suspect that the overall idea of a deep area of low pressure crossing the British Isles in fundamentally sound.
Latest thoughts are that a band of rain will be crossing the British isles during early Sunday. This could be heavy at times and will be most persistent over Scotland. The rain clears, leaving blustery showers, although heavy rain could persist in Scotland for several hours.
The main feature of Sunday’s weather will be the wind. To the south of the low winds will start as a S’ly 20-28kt (F6 gusting F7) then veering to W-NW 25-35kt (F6-F 8 ) but gusting 50kt at times. At the present time the strongest of winds look set to be through SW England in the morning, tracking through Wales and England late morning and afternoon. However, I will keep you informed of progress.
