WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1700 Wednesday 7th October 2009
SATURDAY:
Low pressure to the northwest of Scotland pushes an occluded front eastwards through the morning. A weak ridge of high pressure then builds into the southwest.
The occluded front will be bringing cloud and some outbreaks of mainly light rain with it. Gradually things dry up as the front moves away and the cloud will be breaking allowing some sunny spells to come through. Always a fair amount of cloud through the morning, but the afternoon should turn brighter across the whole of the country.
The best of the sunshine will be across Wales and southwest England, before cloud increases here towards the evening as the next front approaches from off the Atlantic.
Winds will be a W’ly 14-18kt (F5-F6) in the north, nearer 8-10kt (F3-F4) in the south.

SUNDAY:
A cold (the area between two areas of low pressure and two areas of high pressure) settles over us on Sunday. A brisk northern flow affects eastern areas in the morning with troughs moving south in the flow bringing showers to eastern Scotland and eastern England.
To the west an occluded front edges into southwest Ireland bringing some rain here. Generally thought it is going to be a fair day for most places with some sunny spells. The best of them in the north.
As a consequence of the col the winds will be variable. Mainly N’ly 14-17kt (F4-F6) for England and eastern Scotland, NE 8-12kt (F3-F4) ovver northern Scotland. Mainly N-NE 5-8kt (F2-F3) for Ireland.
