No idea, but there's a fishing vessel in Oban that I seem to recall has some weird sort of vertically driven propeller. Don't think it looks like that, though.

Give 'em a chance....clue No. 1 - its not just ropes that you would want to clear from her propeller... :D

Must be the Discovery then, but I still can't figure out how it works.
What angle are we looking at? Any information welcome.

The pic is looking down a well on the deck abaft the aft steering position which gives access to the prop without having to go over the side. Possibly confusing is the fact that the prop is half out of the water since Discovery isn't actually afloat at the moment and is sitting on the bottom in only 9' of water.

So we are only looking at one blade of the prop.

Must go down and see Discovery sometime.
