Hello again,

Places at Weather School are booking up fast so if you intend to come along to any of the October presentations I would suggest you book soon.

Many of you are planning to sail this weekend so thought you might appreciate an early forecast.

All the forecasts will be updated as usual at http://www.weatherweb.net/uksail.htm

Onto the weekend forecast, and if you would like this forecast sent direct to your inbox each week, just send an email to sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net

Have a good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1200 Wednesday 12th August 2009

SATURDAY:
Low pressure is to the north of Scotland today, high pressure to the southwest of Ireland. The fronts around the low will be extending through northern England and Wales and will be very slowly edging eastwards through the day.
There will be a lot of cloud over much of the country. Rain lying along the length of the front may be heavy at times, especially over the high ground of Wales and the Pennines. This slowly edges east into the evening although it will only be bringing light rain to much of central and southern England by then. A risk of mist and fog patches through the English Channel and around southwest coasts of England
To the north it is going to be breezy with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers will be merging to longer spells of rain, especially over central and western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. The best of any brightness over more eastern parts of Scotland and northeast England.
Winds will be SW 15-20kt (F5) for many, but nearer 25 gust 35kt (F6-F 8 ) over northern Scotland, and stronger around western and southern coasts.

SUNDAY:
Pressure is going to be rising from the west through Sunday, although low pressure is still close by to the east. The occluded front marks the zone of highest risk of showers.
There will be some showers through the morning over much of Scotland and eastern England, a few of these heavy. These should be easing through the afternoon as the pressure builds.
A few showers over more western areas early on, but these fading rapidly and then the morning is going to be fair. Further spells of sunshine into the afternoon and these intensifying all the time in the west and south.
Winds will be from the NW 25kt (F6) along eastern coasts at first, but decreasing through the day to become WNW 12kt (F3-F4) in western areas in the afternoon.
