Hello again,

A mixed weekend ahead, but for some of us it should be a pleasant one. There are hints of pressure building over the southern half of the country next week, but the north is always at risk of some rain.

Remember that we are here to help you. If you are planning a trip then we can write a forecast specifically for you (just see http://www.weatherweb.net/buy.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for details). Or, if you want to talk directly too us you can call 0906 515 0036 and pay £1.50 p/min or call 01902 895252 and pay a fix price of £12 per call (make sure you tell the forecaster immediately that you want to pay by credit card). However you get your forecast, we are here all weekend.

Weatherweb.net has been updated and now carries many more forecasts. I am working on adding more too. There are now:
• Surface frontal charts to 5 days ahead
• Detailed wind forecast charts for regions of the UK to 5 days ahead
• 5 day forecast texts for the UK, Ireland, France, Mediterranean and Europe
• Satellite cloud forecasts for Europe
• Month Ahead and Seasonal forecasts
So if you haven’t visited lately see http://www.weatherweb.net/uksail.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Onto the weekend forecast, and if you know anyone who’d like to receive this email each week just tell them to send a request to join to sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net

Best wishes,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1400 Wednesday 20th May 2009

SATURDAY:
High pressure centred over northern Germany extends a ridge westwards through the British Isles and Ireland. A warm front is going to be moving out of northern Scotland as low pressure depends over northern France. There is some uncertainty as to exactly where the low pressure will be forming, and how far north rain will extend, but at the present time it is expected to slip away eastwards without affecting the UK.
Fair conditions over much of the country. There will be some cloud around, but this is probably going to be medium or high level and it should be generally dry.
Across Scotland and Ireland there are likely to be outbreaks of rain. The rain is going to be heavy at times on western facing hills where there will be some hill and coastal fog as well.
Winds will be SE 8-12kt (F3-F4) in the south, but nearer S 12-15kt (F3-F4) for Scotland and Ireland. The far northwest of Scotland may have S at 20-25kt (F5-F6).

SUNDAY:
There is some debate at the moment about the low pressure across southeast England. The current thinking is that this low will be further to the east and so should not affect all but the far southeast of the country.
The far southeast may have some cloud and outbreaks of rain at times. This could be heavy here and there but should clear into the Continent fairly quickly. Note that confidence is low in this feature and I expect there to be a change in the models over the coming days probably resulting in southeast England being dry on Sunday.
For all other parts of the country the day is probably going to be a dry one with sunny spells. There could be some cloud for the west of Ireland and western Scotland, although this should be broken and so there will be some sunny spells here too.
Winds are expected to be mainly S-SW’ly 8-12kt (F3-F4) although may increase in the west to be a S-SW 14-18kt (F5) in western Ireland and northwest Scotland.

MONDAY
Charts showing a more unsettled look to Monday, but again I have to say I am not so sure! I think there could be some patchy outbreaks of rain as the fronts in the west move eastwards, but I suspect most of this will be away from eastern England by midday. A weak ridge of high pressure then follows behind. This may bring some showers to western coasts but I suspect for many areas the day may well be dry with sunny spells.
Winds will become a W-SW’ly 15-20kt (F4-F5) behind the front, perhaps SW 20-25kt (F6) in northwest Scotland.
