Crinan Transit next W/E

Post by aquaplane »

We are aiming to transit next W/E, the 23/24th May. We don't have final instructions yet but in the past we have met Seminole at Oakfield Bridge sometime Saturday and made progress from there, we don't rush.

After that, it depends.

If you see us, say Hi.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.

Tarbert will be a good place to avoid with Scottish week(end) assembling.

Yep, that's why my parents usually scarper at least for the W/E. It's another reason to meet anywhere but Tarbert, though Tarbert is an option if the weather is foul.

Or Portavadie?
Looks posh and pricey - think you should sample it, hit the restaurant and write a report for Bluemoment - Nick will cover the expense.....

Naaa. Part of the helping with the transit will be getting my dad's car from Tarbert to Tayvallich. I'll be driving to Cairnbaan and at some point moving the other car, Portavadie is a bit out of the way for that, there is the ferry though isn't there.

I shall be heading for the other side 23rd/24th but will be going round the Mull. As a "nae mates" single hander the ditch is beyond me.
The (loose) plan is to muster on Friday night at Colintraive with a friend who is taking his boat to the mooring from Ardrossan and deposit him somewhere handy for a ferry on Saturday. As that will probably be Brodick I will either head for Sanda or, more likely, Lamlash. Then, who knows?
I ended up in Ballycastle last time I went by the Mull so hope to go North this time.
This is what I like about sailing... detailed passage plans!
Give me a shout on VHF if you see me looking lost.

I had a phone call last evening (which I was expecting) saying the weather is pants and the outlook isn't any better so stay at home untill advised it's fit to move.

So it's a w/e on Windermere for us which may extend to a week or two depending on the weather up there. :umbrella:

My idea of pants and your idea of pants may not agree with my parents idea of pants.

I looked at the forcast and thought "it don't look too bad" but having tried to get underway and the sails up in the past without sucess, I may as well go to Windermere and have some fun getting cold and wet, and not that cold or wet if the forecast is half right.

My parents don't use their oilies if they can avoid it at all.
