Clearly my account has been compromised in some way but how to sort it out? Will a change of password do it or will I need to report this to hotmail?

I've just clicked on my hotmail sent box (something I virtually never do) and was disturbed to discover that since 10/02/09 I've been sending 4 or 5 emails a week, each to 50 or so genuine hotmail addresses, advertising a distributor of Chinese electronics.
Clearly my account has been compromised in some way but how to sort it out? Will a change of password do it or will I need to report this to hotmail?
