New upgrade attempt

I am paying the software developer to upgrade the software to the latest version. This may or may not work.

I have moved a copy of the existing site to another server, and the upgrade will be done on that server. The original site remains at the old address. Please be aware that any blog entries made since last Tuesday will be lost if the site is moved successfully to the new system.

If the upgrade is unsuccessful then I will have to consider whether or not the current software platform poses a security risk to the server. If you have an extensive blog you wish to preserve then it is ultimately your responsibility - see previous advice about backing up your blog.
