I am afraid my info is very out of date. in 1981 as a spotty youth my brother and I had 5 days cruising around the golfe in our mirror dinghy. Many "swallows & amazons" adventures occured. We had a superb time, wild camping on beaches and in small woods on tiny islands. We also visited Auray - which then was a lovely waterfront village which seemed to appear in every kids euro TV dubbed adventure series throughout the 80's. Vannes was also a nice larger town with a marina . Needless to say as mid teens lads we had a great time, but we wern't looking for beer or totty. I also helped a friend of my dad take his 36' boat down there from milford haven - but we just took the boat up straigh through up to Vannes , before rushing home. There are numerous anchorages in the islands - back then we saw several bays with 5 or 6 boats in of an evening, but the tides were fine as long as you went with them. Haven't been back since 88.
