Santa got me one of these watches with a tidal curve on it.
That was on Dec 25th. It's now next year and I've finally found out how to make it match what I can see out of the window.
This site was very useful, since the booklet from Casio only gave London at 1hr10mins lunitidal delay. Millport is actually 11hr49mins (nearest to Ayr) which is quite a difference!
Unfortunately, there's an illogical variation in times around my cruising ground, so I'm going to be seen fumbling with more bits of paper this year.
The site has LOTS of interesting things and is worth a visit IMO.

Oh, that as well.
Isn't it alarming how your reach seems to get shorter the older and fatter you get?
I'm going to need assistance soon, the seventh age approacheth.

Could be due to the bottem drooping aswell, getting further away from the shoulder.sahona wrote:Oh, that as well.

Re: Loonitidal inconsistencies - a Casio cartoon.
I have one of thay watches that has a tide thingumy. I've never understood it, or set it, or found out if it works or is usefull if set right.
Is it worth getting it set up so I can use it?
Do I pass a hat, I just passed 250 posts?

possibly not of great interest on Windermere, so that's why you haven't pursued it.
For the 250 posts, I don't think your next wizard's hat is due until 1K....unless you're a special person of course.

Re: Loonitidal inconsistencies - a Casio cartoon.
I do manage a couple of weeks tidal sailing a year, though that's been on the Clyde so I took only a little more notice of the tide than I do on Windermere.
1000 posts! my word, best get a boat on't sea if I'm going to be an Old Salt fo so long.
I thought so, < 250 I was Master Mariner, which is odd because mine is a Tohatsu, I'm a new "Old Salt".

Was going to make a comment about becoming a cabin boy but that may have been misconstrued.

Re: Loonitidal inconsistencies - a Casio cartoon.
Now that we're leaving Ayr bay (intrepid eh?), the watches loonitidal interval and longitude have of course been set to reflect the state of affairs at Dover, and the tidal atlasses are dusted off ready for a Summer of action.
Any rock-hopping incidents will of course be a result of technical failure.....- forgot to wind it up gov.
