Spammers Must Die

Post by Nick »

:spam I was going to delete this, but have decided to leave it and instead ask you all to avoid this guy as his business ethics are obviously dubious. If anyone is at a loose end perhaps they could have a look through his stock, see if they can souce it cheaper and if so post the links on here.

I really do get fed up with this as we have the loosest, most flexible policy imaginable on this, with a listings section that is open to everyone (except people who have spammed the forum), no restriction on links in signatures etc - all I ask is that people are actually making some kind of contribution and have the decency to leave the blatant advertising until their second post at least!

We do not spam. On signing up for this forum we could not see any terms and conditions which prohibited commercial sales. We would not have posted if there were.
Fair enough. My response to that is that in eight years this forum has not found it necessary to include specific terms of this nature as part of the registration process because it has been generally recognised as standard forum etiquette. Thanks to you there is now a section in the terms all future members must agree to at registration:

COMMERCIAL POSTING:
Members are allowed to include their business URL in their signature subject to previous terms; however, posts from business owners with no content other than a blatant commercial message or advertisement are prohibited and members contravening this may have their account terminated without warning. This rule applies to all fora including the For Sale forum.

Now, do you have anything useful or interesting to say to our members? If you do you are very welcome to include your URL in your signature. (You might for example post in 'Shooting the Breeze' or 'Gear and Gadgets' on the imminent demise of the 121.5 distress beacon frequency and any implications that might have, as that would seem to be something relevant to the products you sell - or on battery replacement in EPIRBS or whatever.
