Companion to Peyton

Post by bilbo »

Since I got into the anchoring habit a few years back, I've usually had by me a wee book to read, while waiting after midnight for That Tune,

I've just been snow-ploughing through the early chapters of a volume to sit as companion on the bookshelf alongside my collection of Mike Peyton's gentle cartoons - Dutton's 'The Ridiculous Mountains'' - and am guffawing at the thinly-disguised references to long ago, such as 'The Weasels' and 'GlenScree'......

And, of course, I have these pages to thank for that. I now have a fresh bottle of 'nippy sweeties', courtesy of DuncanMac, and this new anthology, to keep me company on my birthday..... and a shed-load of nostalgia about The 'Coe, Skye and The 'Gorms in the 60s. Silly auld buffer......

I berthed next to Touchstone for several years, Mikes main companion aboard was the coal burning stove! I sometimes wonder how many of his cartoons are based upon the characters of Downes Road boat yard.
I will not stay young forever but, I can be immature for the rest of my day's!
