Alistair Naismith - Superstrath

Post by Telo »

I am afraid that I have sad news for everyone who knew Superstrath, Alistair Naismith, on these forums.

Alistair died on Sunday morning after battling against a brain tumour for some time. For those who wish to attend, his funeral will take place at 2pm tomorrow, Thursday 31th July, at Avondale Parish Church in Strathaven.

Alistair was a friendly and charming person. I'm sure that all who knew him will want to extend their heartfelt sympathy to Margaret and their three daughters, Rachel, Jill and Holly.

There is also an appreciation of Alistair from his friends within the uphill racing community.

A light has gone out; he will be sadly missed.

I never actually met him, although I was parked just along the pontoon from his cat in Ardrossan when I was bringing Rowana back over to Peterhead. It was only later that someone pointed out that it was him, and if I'd known, then I would have gone for a blether.

Condolences to his family.

Sad news indeed. He had to cancel the Clyde Scuttlebutt weekend, of course, so I only met him a couple of times in the pub but obviously a lovely man. My condolences to his family.

Sad news indeed . . .

I only met Alastair once when he invited me on board in Ardrossan. All I can say is that I was very much looking forward to getting to know him better and am saddened to hear that this is not going to happen. He seemd like a thorough gentleman and all round nice guy - they always seem to go first sadly.

My condolences to any family and friends who may be reading this.

I only met Alistair twice, both times in the Bon Accord and he was a lovely man. Like many I was looking forward to meeting up with him again at the Scuttlebutt Cruise. My thoughts are with his family.

Correction to the address: Avendale Parish Church, Kirk St, Strathaven.

For family reasons I regret that that we shall be unable to attend, but will be thinking of Alistair, Mags, and the girls.

Sorry to hear that news. We're out and about, so won't get to Stra'ven.

I've been away on the boat for a week, so have only just found this post. I only met Alistair once, at the Bon Accord.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Sure I had posted this before, but it seems to have dissapeared.
Very sorry to hear this sad news.
Likewise I met Alisdair once and he struck me as been a very nice genuine guy.
May he rest in peace, and my condolances to his family and friends.
