Picking up the gossip here in Oban the general view is that the Oban Marina will go ahead, I have always been sceptical about its chances. However local yacht owners and other boat operators all seem to be convinced.
Anyone any more definate news.

New Oban Marina
We can't change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.

Well . . .
It appears to have a lot of momentum and there is enthusiastic talk. Haven't heard any comment from Calmac about it. I could well imagine they could stick the biggest spanner in the works. I suppose with their new link span the manoevering (probably spelt it wrong!!) area for the approach will be shared with vessels coming in and out of the marina. That in itself shouldn't be a problem as far as I'm concerned - use the standard set of port control lights. But... they do seem to carry a lot of sway as to what goes on in the port.

Pure speculation but, Oban Marina (Kerrera) having nearly doubled the pontoon berths recently and filled them, are keen to create even more berths, but having problems with water from a spring that cannot cope with the present expansion.
Is it possible they could expand Oban marina over the bay were water would'nt be a problem. They are certainly part of the steering group.
