Not sure if this is a shooting the breeze topic (I'm just new here) but am in a quandary about buying Reeds Almanac. I mean I've got the last 10 years of it so all I need is the tide tables - but preferably for most of the UK. Well Scotland West and most of Ireland really. Is there some cheap and easy wheeze to get all the standard ports? I know I can probably download it for free in lots of bits but want something I can take onto the boat that looks like a book.
What about Imray? Do I just buy Reeds?
Tide tables, almaniacs...

I tend to just use Dover tables printed off the computer and a tidal atlas. That's the same as in the Reeds armagnac anyway. At my age I don't want to get into a position where I need to know local stuff to the last bawherr, they are only predictions after all....

I struggle with this every year too....
I don't need the darned book, i've got loads of 'em.... I just need the tide tables....
yet.....
Its just, somehow, so.... satisfying.... yes, satisfying is the word, to have that weighty book on the shelf behind the nav table.....

Confessional time... SWMBO won the raffle at the cruising club dance, yup- Reeds 2008. Problem is, our bookshelf is used for bottles. Priorities, priorities, always a worry on a small boat. When are they going to publish on CD like the radio amateur manuals? Then it can go in the laptop along with Cmap, and the magic bit that ensures it will always have power and never break down.
