Aye, it appears to be happening and Marisca is entered. One wee problem, a lack of winch fodder to do the work. The crew consists of 2 septuagenarians (1 trying to recover from C19 but Scottish Champion in the YW 14' Dayboat in 1963) and an awfy good bowman that ignores the afterguard totally (as he should). So, what we need is a couple of winch-winders, clutch operators, sheet fiddlers to fill the gap.
The excellent WHYW website Crewfinder page has 1 entry from 3 years ago, my Yacht Club (if it can be called that as no proper yachts actually race, just plastic day-boats) has no-one interested and all the previous suspects would love to, but .......
Why not volunteer, or, as most of the denizens of these fora are coffin dodgers, volunteer your children? WHYW used to be a lot of fun and a huge amount of effort is going into this year's event with return of the Kerrera party, bands at Dunstaffnage, etc. It's an event that should be on every sailors bucket list!

Re: WHYW 2022
As one of the five regular coffin dodgers on here, totally agree with you that families and youngsters interested in a bit of harmless racing WHYW is the place to get involved.
Sitting in craighouses (at anchor) and the place is full of old men in big boats. None of them will ever set a spinnaker again. That's the way of it.

Re: WHYW 2022
Spinnaker? Marisca now has 2 and I can and do fly one by myself but not hammering round the cans. If I can't pressgang a couple of innocents I may have to resort to the ignominy of cruising round the White Sail courses being beaten on handicap by Malindi.

It's always the boats that you forget about that sneak in 5 minutes before the time limit.
We used to race against a Wing 25 with similar results.

Re: WHYW 2022
Be warned!! WHYW with its 66 (so far) entries will be descending on Croabh on 30th July and leaving for Oban on 1st August. 3rd August sees the invasion of Balamory until the 5th.
If you like quiet, dislike boats rafting to you, expect to find space in bars and restaurants or even want a shower or a shit without having to queue - stay clear!!
Marisca is still wanting an additional crew - the specification has changed from young, fit, rock star to "has a pulse"!
