Just spotted this, I presume I am the Joe referred to.
I did indeed report a transit a week ago, it was 'Multicat' N.W. Marines work boat, and when I spoke to them they were heading toward Oban. However regular inspection of Marine Traffic's site revealed them stopped at Lock 4 over the weekend and now at Bellanoch so they have not made it through yet.
There are some signs of spring, some of the summer staff from last year are back on duty and there was a gang of newbies gathered around Loch 3 a couple of days ago learning how it works, so it is possible it may be clear soon.
Finding out is difficult with SCs contradictory communications, if I really needed to know I would ring Helen at Ardrishaig, she is experienced knowledgeable, reliable and as helpful as she can be.
Now boatless, I will be offering 'pilotage' assistance again this year so ring 01546 603799 if you decide to book help, proceeds are passed on to 'Mary's Meals' who feed thousands of starving children though I am considering directing some to 'Water Aid', another efficient charity which might be more appropriate.
