It will be interesting to see how many people do post here this weekend - my betting is not a lot, unless forum addiction is worse than I thought. YBW forumeers are tremendously loyal - even Marian on BYM has failed to attract many of them.

It's very difficult to get a forum to reach critical mass, and I can't really think of anything I can offer here that YBW doesn't offer. About the only difference is that as BM has no money getting sued is not much of a worry . . .

It's certainly true that in general yachting is a sport for the well-heeled, but there are a lot of exceptions. There is a rich tradition of epic voyages made by impoverished sailors in what by today's standards would be considered woefully inadequately equipped vessels.

Check. And the way things are going Shard will be out of the water until late April/early May at the earliest. She's not just a wee bit wet, but having had her bottom scraped, the original GRP base was badly laid and it's now going to cost more to get the job done properly. Hence the further impoverishment.
