Closure of VAGB Forum

Post by ash »

I'm sorry to see that the VAGB Forum for Albin Vega owners has closed. I realise that it was not used very often. Maybe too many "Lurkers" like me who browsed but didn't post.

I also monitor the forum linked to the Leisure Owners Association (LOA) as my first boat was a twin keeled Leisure 17, and that forum is much busier.

I believe that the main reason is that the LOA covers a range of yachts from 17' to 29' and that the owners of the 17' ers are likely to be first time owners and/or fairly inexperienced and therefore will ask lots of questions and luckily the more experienced provide answers.

By comparison, it unlikely that a 27' Albin Vega will be owned by someone with no prior experience.

Why the Albin Vega forum closed . . .

Post by Nick »

It was closed because the man responsible (not me, I'm only the techie) was worried about spam appearing on it . . . and it wasn't used very often. The Yahoo Group is a lot more widely used as it has a lot of US Vega owners posting there.

If enough Vega owners want it I can set up a Vega forum on here - just let me know. In fact, I am more than happy to set up a forum for any owners group or association that thinks it would be used.

You are right about lurkers though - if everyone who read this board made an effort to post it would be a much livelier place.
