Jura - Great Canal Journeys

Post by ash »

Watching Pru and Tim on Great Canal Journeys.

Which bay on Jura did they use to transfer back to the fishing boat?

They had gone through Corryvreckan on Venture West.

Continuity isn't their strong point. Just because the bay came after Corryvrechan and before George Orwell's place may not place it.

Having said that there is bay just north of there which looks promising on Google maps.

I thought it may be the bay, that I can't remember the name of, which is sort of opposite Carsaig bay. Looked nice wherever it is.
Seminole.

I don't know the area well enough, but wondered if it was one of the bays near Kinuachdrachd.

I thought it was the bay just to the north of there, Port an Tiobairt.

I've anchored there twice, once this year and once some years ago to view the annular eclipse. It was going to be low in the sky in the early morning so I reckoned that that bay would give me a reasonably low horizon to the NE. Peaceful evening watching the seals, calm night, then the alarm woke me to thick mist which only cleared after the eclipse was long gone.
