new signups and spam

The forum is experiencing unprecedented levels of spam at the moment. As a result I am having to use a quick and dirty approach which involves regularly deleting all members whose post count is zero.

Unfortunately this means that genuine new members who are waiting for their first post to be approved may find their account deleted before it gets off the ground. If this happens to anyone please contact me directly and I will set up your account manually.

The software version is not the latest one, and needs upgraded, but this is a lengthy and time-consuming process so has had to take a back seat to more critical work. I intend to deal with it sometime later this week.
