Re: Echo Sounder
I've only been into Millport twice, and never ventured behind the Eileans. The chart shows 0.6m at LAT close NW of the northmost Eilean, and also halfway to the shore N, but drying rocks close N of the Eilean. So a LW approach is probably a bit iffy...

Re: Echo Sounder
Thanks for that Dave, but it was on the west side I was in just north west of the visitors moorings.
Apart from that, I had my shake down sail today, in fact shake down is putting it a bit mildly, what a wild sail from Clydebank to Fairlie, with F4-6 veering and gusts up to F7, with driving squally rain and waves up to 1.5mtrs, I sure do pick the days, and this one was not all pleasent but more exilerating and even though very cold at times, very enjoyable it even took two attempts to come alongside the outside of the pontoon at the Cumbrae centre and wind at that time was westerly with the water rougher on the inside of the pontoon than the outside for a change, if the owner of Ocean Wave is reading this, "Thanks for taking our lines"
We even managed a heal angle of 40 degree according to the inclinometer on the compass while the main was reefed down and half gib.
Oddly enough the weather was much similar on the last day of last season, only we were going the opposite way and broad reaching.
My echo sounder was just a pain in the ass today either showing readings as low as 1.2m with the alarm sounding while we were actually in 35mtrs and if it wasent showing daft readings it was showing OUT.
I think I will be hunting for a through hull trns duc to suit the Clipper Duet.
