Apparently Colonsay is looking for 'families with bags of enthusiasm for the outdoor life' to relocate to the island. I can see how this would help.

It also suggests you need 'plenty of entrepreneurial spirit'. Not sure about that..
And where would you park your boat long term?

Oh we think it's fine. But cc2006 went to colonsay, spent loads of loot in the pub, yet for some reason the landlord got shirty on our way out - to such a degree that one of the girls in our party was forced to bash him on the nose.

Er not sure what all that's about, but as for T25's point, the comment in the article about entrepreneurial spirit seemed a bit far-fetched. It's a small island with, I would have thought, limited entrepreneurial potential.
And I spent 5 weeks last summer (working) on a similar-sized island off the Irish coast. Although I like a spot of seclusion, I was quite happy to leave.

we spent a couple of days there last summer. the place was jumping with holidaymakers. the shop had one of the best wine selections i`ve seen in many a mile. the weekly ferry from oban to kennacraig brings in hordes of day trippers on, i think a wednesday. there is a micro brewery, cycle hire, b&b, the hotel was fully booked.
an entrepeneurs paradise imho. even crime was on the increase - 2 thefts in 6 months.

Hmm .. I ran round it a couple of years ago .. very nice in the summer .. but the winter's a lot longer

But buzzing for maybe 6 weeks out of 52? And I think I would be worried about the level of subsidy perhaps necessary for Mr. MacBrayne to keep the window open so wide
