Does unopened Sikaflex go off?

I've just been sold a tube 'best before Sept 2007' by the yard . . .

Sikaflex

It's probably OK. A gentle squeeze of the unopened tube should confirm.

The really annoying thing about Sika, unlike say Lifecalk, is that once opened, no matter how little you use, the rest of the tube goes solid within days.

I somewhere heard the suggestion that once it's in that state it's worth keeping then, at a later date, cut off the tube and cut up the sika into flexible washers, AV pads, etc. I've got as far as hoarding the old tubes...

I've a theory, and I'm fairly confident it's true for some mastic-like things but I know Sika is a cut above most of them, that keeping it in a sealed plastic bag extends the life considerably.
Worth a try anyway.

i have definitely had solidified, unioened tubes, but in hot climate i suppose. As others say, as long as the tupe is squeezable now, and u intend to use it about now, it shd be ok. Keep the receipt i spose...

Opened a much older one at the weekend although a cheaper copy and not the genuine sika. It was fine. Don't know how the sika is packaged but this one comes in a completely sealed tin with dessicant granules in the base. Probably a lot depends on storage conditions.

Not entirely relevant I realise but I've typed it now. :)
