Re: Cut Off
Considering that the side of hill, between Ardfern and Craobh collapsed a while ago, long since cleared away, you may get stuck in Ardfern Claymore, with all this forecast rain, over 200mm forecast. Are you ready for that?
Winds also E and NE 6 gusting 9, so perhaps a bit bouncy at Ardfern. Do be careful.

Boat will likely stay at Craobh. Currently working 21/21 so the level of can't be arsedness is quite high at the moment. These old bones don't recover from jet lag easily anymore. Biscuit tin is stocked up as is medicinal spirit locker if you need a shot to keep warm.wully wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 7:23 amMah wee boaties is going to Craobh for the winter. Re: Cut Off
Thanks to Gardenshed for a recent update. The A816 at Culfail Hotel, Kilmelford is closed because the bridge has been damaged. Police Scotland state that the "bridge could be closed for some time".
They will be resorting to cannibalism at Ardfern soon, two meals and 48 hours away from barbarism.

The wee single track road to Taynuilt is still open but I can just imagine the grid lock on that soon….

Jings
We just got out in time - is that the wee road alongside the village stores in Kilmelford that will eventually lead to Taynuilt or Stonehaven or Berwick upon tweed or somewheres?

A816 - Kilmelford Bridge
Update on situation regarding the Kilmelford Bridge on the A816
Following the decision to close the bridge to keep people safe, we moved quickly through the night to demolish the bridge.
Our contractors are working 24-hour shifts to put in a temporary structure and we are working to have a solution in place for the middle of next week.
The current diversion route is via the C29 Loch Avich road and B845 Taynuilt. This route is unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles and has a weight limit of 7.5 tonnes.
We are looking at options for alternatives for a shorter diversion and will update again later

Re: Cut Off
Latest info on the Kilmelford bridge is that it should be ready for traffic on Monday 30th..
Possibly but fingers crossed.
The temporary shortcut/diversion with 24 hour traffic control along dirt track past the hydro station is passable by normal cars if you take it easy - so if heading to Craobh/Ardfern then you’ll need to leave the Aston Martin at home.

At last I can get to the boat reasonably straightforward now.
I thought Titmarsh had failed to launch.
