Clipper Yacht Race to Stop At Oban

Post by BlowingOldBoots »

Well, who would have thought that this not quite all of the great capes race would result in a stop at Oban in July 2024. It is Leg 8 from East Coast USA to UK, round the top of the UK mainland.

Clipper Race crew will experience the breath-taking beauty of this West Coast town and a warm Highlands welcome when they visit in July 2024 – the penultimate stop on the 40,000nm race around the world.
That is date to look forward to, I would like to see the boats.
What's that? Dunno! Should we be worried about that? Dunno! How? Ah dunno!

There seems to be some confusion on part of the website
"Then it’s a 2,000-mile blast back towards Europe and one of the warmest welcomes of the whole race in Ireland.

With your odyssey almost over, it’s a great place to gather your thoughts and put your achievements into perspective. But still the challenges come thick and fast. A short and intense race from Ireland back to the finish port"

I hope they work out where Oban is before next July.

Good spot. The Oban one is dated this August, the Irish one is not dated.

Oban is mentioned in the host ports page https://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/race/ports/2023-24

We shall see.
