Argyll and Bute Cooncil do it again! What was going to be a benefit for yachties and the town is turning into a cash cow. £3.70 per metre per night,£14.75 for 4 hours, or £5.50 for less than an hour. TOP has complaints of payment with no promised bog code emails and only an answering machine to complain to.

I seem to remember the price being pretty high last year for an overnight stay, but there was a staff member on hand in reception, the showers were very good ( as were other facilities ). I guess one reason for the high pricing is because they want to maintain the "transit" marina operation and stop people parking there for a week. Pontoon berths are getting expensive now £3.60 p/m in Lochaline for example, they say its the cost of electricity that is one factor.

I never understand or agree why I should be subsidising other boats electricity usage.

I don't have 240v on board, so why should I subsidise? A more equitable arrangement is you should be able to buy cards where you can add credit which is useable across (say) Argyll & Bute marinas.

I think the setup for that would make it even more expensive, you may not be popular I also think the main power cost is not the pontoon power, but the lighting, heating and hot water costs in the shower/toilet blocks.
