What is a defaced ensign? I'm presuming it's not a union jack thats had FTQ spraypainted over it as was my first assumption?

It is a red duster with an emblem on it. Unlike a blue ensign that is commonly defaced. It appears our red duster is a lot more sacrosanct.

I saw an "ensign" today that was a red flag with an inset signal flag M. A bit like replacing the Union flag in the Red ensign with an M.
What does that mean?
Geoff.

It means you've been sailing around with your eyes closed for the last umpteen years. I wonder if anyone else has noticed a boat flying a large blue ensign defaced by a wheen of stars from its mast?
